Dr. Sathya S.N. developed a deep passion for dance, particularly Bharatanatyam, at a very young age. Engrossed by the grace and vibrance of the Vazhuvoor Bhani, Sathya began her training under the esteemed tutelage of ‘Subha Nritya Ratnam’, Guru Dr. Priya Karthikeyan, Director of Natyaranjana School of Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi, Chennai. Fortunate and blessed, Sathya continues to remain under the auspices of her Guru to this day.
Owing to her enthusiasm and dexterity, Sathya has performed in almost all the leading Sabhas, television channels, and temples in Chennai.A graded artist of Chennai Doordarshan, she has performed at prestigious government festivals across India and represented Indian culture at renowned international stages. One of her proudest moments was performing at the Eastman Theater in New York, USA.
Dr. Sathya is blessed to pursue Carnatic music under the scholarly guidance and mentorship of ‘Maestro’‘Kalaimamani’ Guru Smt. Girija Ramaswamy, former Principal of Adyar Music College, Chennai.
Blessed by divine grace, Sathya is privileged to be guided and nurtured in Bharatanatyam by the legendary Guru Padma Shri’ Smt. Chitra Visweswaran and ‘Acharya’ Dr. Sukanya Ravindhar, under the Holistic Development Program of the Chidambaram Academy of Performing Arts (CAPA), Chennai.
Passionate about protecting nature and wildlife, Dr. Sathya holds a PhD in Sustainable Development and Wildlife Conservation. As an environmentalist, research writer, and core volunteer with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), Hyderabad, she is deeply committed to creating awareness and driving positive change for a sustainable future.
In 2023, Dr. Sathya’s visionary endeavor of weaving environmental awareness into the art of Bharatanatyam was honoured by the Hon’ble Governor of Telangana and the Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Puducherry at Ravindra Bharati, Hyderabad.
Dr. Sathya has been honored with numerous prestigious accolades, including ‘The Real Super Heroes Award’ by International Pride Books of World Records, ‘Best Teacher Award’ and Overall Championship Award at the Yadadri National Dance Festival, the FCDFO Panel Judge Award, ‘Best Classical Dance Choreographer Award’ by Akhil Natrajar Aantar Sanskrutik Sangh and the International Dance Council, Paris, and the ‘Special Recognition Biodiversity Award’ by WWF, Hyderabad—among many others.
Dr. Sathya has contributed extensively to research and knowledge-sharing through her acclaimed papers and publications, including Impacts of Sustainable Development on Environmental Conservation, Creating Environmental Awareness among Students – A Pedagogical Approach, Climate Change and the Degradation of the Natural World: Challenges for Sustainable Development, and Sustainable Development Strategies for Mining by the Government of India and the Environmental Impacts of Mining.
Blessed by the guidance of her mother-in-law, revered Guru, Smt. Kamala Nemani, Dr. Sathya continues her sacred journey of lovingly nurturing the next generation of Bharatanatyam Artists and Environment enthusiasts at Sattvika School of Bharatanatyam and Carnatic Music, Hyderabad. Dr.Sathya kindles in every learner a deep reverence of inner strength, self-confidence, a joy in self-expression, and a belief in the transformative power of the Divine art form with ‘Empowerment, Equality and Environmental Awareness through Arts’ as her motto.
